All Creation Sings

Can you hear it?  The birdsong.  The rustle of tawny brown lizards as they scurry on their way.   The gentle nudge of soft breezes moving through fresh, green leafy things.  The pale, warm rays of yellow as the day begins.  Love that.  I don’t get to enjoy it every morning, but on days I do, I am always filled with wonder.  God made all of this.

My heart wells with gratefulness — my spirit calms and steadies for the day.  Every once in a while, I enjoy time in the morning AND in the evening–bookending the day–and oh how I love evenings… the same sights and sounds from the beginning of the day, but different somehow.  As sun sets– and this time of year, heat from the day relents a bit– all of creation is STILL rejoicing in the day God made.   It has continued on tirelessly all day long…even though my faded green lawn chair was empty as I took care of the “stuffs”  that filled my time.  Minutes pass, the light fades and changes to shades of pale orange and pink–trees leaves shine a bolder green glow, evening lilies open, adding the shimmer of white flecks to the landscape, birds slowly quiet their song, frogs and bugs begin to chirp — continuing the theme into an evening movement of restfulness.

I have to admit, I haven’t always taken time to stop and move out to my rickety chair –and take notice of God’s love–expressed in the beauty of creation, HIS creation, and hey–it doesn’t wait for my attention–this song plays ON–whether I take time to notice or not.  Had I realized as I do now that these stolen moments are soul restoring for me–and I NEED to still myself for a bit and join in –I would have made it a priority much earlier in my life.

God ministers to me through His creation.  He quiets my soul with the soft breeze of a late spring evening.  The light is perfect, the music of birds and creatures is lovely– and when I close my eyes, I smile with delight , that from this special place in my front yard, I have a tiny glimpse of the Creator God’s artistry.  And I breathe.
